What is SIP trunking (Session Initiation Protocol)?

SIP trunking is a way to deliver both voice and media services over the Internet. If you currently have a VoIP phone system or EPABX that supports SIP, then SIP trunking can deliver high quality HD voice services for your business without the cost of additional hardware or need to switch phone systems.

In order to understand SIP, you must first understand VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). VoIP enables you to get phone service via Internet pipe than getting from telecom operator. VoIP provides a means of converting analog phone signals into digital signals that can be sent over the Internet. Since many businesses already use VoIP within their EPABX on the Local Area Network (LAN) to connect to IP phones.

Two biggest benefits associated with SIP trunking are the cost savings and flexibility; it offers to support business growth. SIP trunking enables PBX to send and receive calls via Internet. SIP is applied for the signaling protocol for many real-time applications; SIP trunk offers not only voice but also supports video and messaging applications.

SIP trunking is a premium service on offer by only a few communications service providers in India, that uses protocol to provision voice over IP (VoIP) connectivity between a In-premise phone system and the public switched telephone network (PSTN) network. SIP trunking now is primarily sold as a replacement for digital Primary Rate Interfaces (PRIs), which are based on time-division multiplexing (TDM).

SIP trunking has been widely deployed by many communications service providers around the world and recently been adopted in Indian market, mainly to replace their TDM-based services. As most service providers have an IP network backbone, delivering SIP trunking over existing Ethernet or Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network infrastructure, the providers are not only able to reduce cost and management complexity associated with legacy digital platforms, but also offer many additional features.

Benefits of SIP trunking

SIP trunking offers a logical business decision and greater purchasing flexibility than TDM from the customer perspective. PRI line only support maximum of 30 voice channels, whereas SIP trunks can be purchased in any increment without any additional physical work done at customer premises. Customers have may options for SIP trunking implementation like over existing WAN services, dedicated WAN connections or even the public internet.

Yes — completely free to you, whether you’re a household comparing broadband plans or an enterprise architecting a multi-site network. We’re paid a commission by providers only if you go on to connect a service through us, and that commission doesn’t change the price you pay. It also doesn’t change what we recommend: our comparisons are run the same way regardless of who pays what, and if the honest answer is that you should stay on your current plan, or that a cheaper option beats the one that earns us more, we’ll say so. That’s the whole basis of the business — advice you can trust is the only thing that brings people back.

The same way most comparison platforms do: providers pay us when a customer connects through our platform. We’re deliberately transparent about it because it’s the obvious question, and because the incentive matters. We don’t take payment for higher rankings, we don’t hide options that don’t pay us, and our team isn’t targeted on pushing a particular brand. Where two options are close, we tell you they’re close. Where one is clearly better for your situation, we tell you that even if it earns us less.

No. We’re an independent comparison platform, not a reseller for a single operator. We compare across the market — Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL on mobile and home services, and a wide range of vendors across cloud, security and enterprise connectivity. Being independent is also why we’re comfortable telling you when the market leader isn’t your best answer: BSNL can be the value pick where it has coverage, a single good router often beats a three-node mesh in a 2BHK, and sometimes the honest recommendation is to keep exactly what you have.

Both, and the second part is where most of the value sits. We’ll compare the options and explain the trade-offs in plain language, then help you actually get connected — coordinating the provider, the paperwork, installation timelines and, where it applies, porting your number or migrating a service without downtime. For businesses we’ll stay involved through design and delivery. You’re never handed a list of links and left to it.

Only what’s needed to give you a useful recommendation — typically your location or circle, roughly what you use, and how to reach you. Browsing and comparing on the site is anonymous; nothing is shared until you choose to request a quote. We don’t sell your details on, and we handle personal data in line with India’s DPDP Act — you can read the specifics on our Privacy Policy page. If you’d rather just talk it through before sharing anything, call us on 011 4290 8899.

We compare services across India, but availability genuinely varies — fibre depends on which operator has passed your building, 5G FWA depends on the tower nearest you, and mobile coverage differs street by street, which is exactly why we check rather than assume. Tell us your pin code or area and we’ll tell you honestly what’s actually available at your address, including when the answer is “not much yet, and here’s the best alternative.”

That’s most people, and it’s the part we’re best at. You don’t need to arrive knowing whether you want SD-WAN or a leased line, a smart bulb or a smart switch, or whether your family should share a plan. Tell us your situation in plain words — what’s frustrating you, what you spend now, what you’re trying to do — and we’ll work out the options, explain them without jargon, and tell you what we’d do in your position.
